The software is of a modular structure and is characterised by the clear and intuitive user interface. In this way HELL ensures that specific processes can be visualised precisely. Core aspects are the recording, clear depiction and monitoring of the current process and plant status and process operation, and last but not least data logging and archiving.

The only communication standard that is used is the one that is suitable for solving the respective process control and automation task - in the form of open communication through standardised networks, simple serial data links (V24, RS485), decentralised bus systems or standardised protocols which guarantee a rapid and secure exchange of data.
